Strategy

In the 20 years since Hutchison Telecom launched Hong Kong's first mobile telecommunications service, we have cultivated and refined a powerful growth strategy. By being strategic, patient, fiscally sound and resourceful, Hutchison Telecom built a company recognised as a leader in some of the most attractive telecom markets in the world.

Our evaluation of a new market focuses on several common characteristics: a low telecommunications penetration rate, a sizeable and growing population base, a steady regulatory environment and a stable or expanding economy. We also believe that the right local partner is imperative to our success. Through extensive due diligence, we establish relationships with qualified local partners, who deliver an informed understanding of the local competitive landscape.

Having found the right opportunity, the next step is to construct a robust wireless network. We believe a quality network is paramount to our success as an operator and we always partner with network operators who bring a thorough understanding of technology and the local market.

Our business depends on brand awareness, a dynamic marketing strategy and responsive customer relations. In each market, we position our brand to specifically address the local culture and technology experience. In addition to a strong network and brand, we aim to offer our customers the most innovative handsets, products and services available by leveraging the extensive resources, knowledge and commercial strength of Hutchison Whampoa. We maximise our global buying power to deliver a premier offering in every market.

Building strength, powering growth. Hutchison Telecom builds its businesses by providing a wide range of products and services that meet the communications needs of our customers and deliver solid results to our shareholders.
